Saw your film at the Nevada City film festival. It was great. I know Nepal and the Annapurna trek. Such a sad thing to lose that wilderness to a dam. I appreciate your contribution. Thanks.

The dam constructors were saying that in August of 2008 the silverback area will be closed to boating. I am not sure if that has happened yet or not. By December I would think that it will be surely closed. You can still put in below silverback (long flat water), or take out somewhere above it. It seems that the upper run probably is better to take out below bujagali falls now. It is still worth going there, the back channels will still be great as well as the day 2 run.

---Scott

No, I think it would be rediculus for me to say that the nepalese government should not dam the rivers. Here in the sierras where I live we have already dammed all of our rivers who are we to say not to do this! What I am saying however that it is not the Nepalese that are damming the Marsyangdi, it is a joint Chinese and German project. Who is really benefiting is not the poor Nepalese people, it is the Chinese who will get the power and the German construction company. The poor Nepalese are getting screwed and they are loosing a magnificent river not to mention the most popular trekking route in the world and all of the tourist income that goes along with that.

---Scott
Everyone knows it !!!
So why the hell should be force ourselves to realize the pain they have taken ?

Is it the pain they have taken or they are inflicting on the Tribal people.

God bless AP.
